Motivation music video was directed by Sarah Chatfield. Frank Gatson handled the choreography. In the video, a group of male dancers are half dressed and danced around Rowland in a ill-lit warehouse. The dancers looks extremely sexy and so did Kelly, who dressed in a purple swim suit and black coat. Lil Wayne appeard alone to rap his own verse for the single. "I love Wayne. I always have. I've always loved his style," Kelly said. "I always love how you don't know what's going to come out of his mouth, and he's so spontaneous and just witty. I love Wayne."

Motivation was written by Rico Love, Lil Wayne and Jim Jonsin, who produced the song. It's the lead single off Kelly Rowland's third studio album, which is not named and released yet. The single released debuted online via Rap-Up magazine's website on March 2, 2011.
