YouTube Viral Sensation Maria Aragon Signs Recording Deal in Philippines

"Born This Way" cover singer Maria Aragon is on her summer vacation now. The 11-year-old Canadian girl together with her parents went to Philippines - her family's native, and signed a recording contract with Star Records - the leading recording company in Philippines. It's only four months since Maria coverd Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and soon became one of the greatest Internet sensation.

Maria declared the news in her twitter. She tweeted on Friday: "I can't believe it! Thank you for everybody's support and love. Because of you I am now here in the Philippines + signed under Star Records!"

Three things are confirmed about the deal according to the statements from Maria's father – Veni Aragon:

1. The record contract is valid for two years.
2. According to the contract, Maria will record two albums.
3. Maria's cover to "Born This Way" will be included in the first album.

In September, Maria will go back to Isaac Brock School in Canada to have classes in Grade 6. Before that, she has to cancel some of her activities in Canada this summer.

Previously, Maria Aragon featured in HTC Sensation 4G commercial "You are the next...". She covered K'naan's Wavin' Flag in the commercial. Her most-viewed YouTube video, which showing her cover to Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", has yielded 38 million views so far.
